BERWICK, Maine — Nancy Ann (Newton) Riley of Berwick, Maine, passed away on Feb. 21, 2010, at the Hyder Family Hospice House in Dover, N.H., after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 59 years old.

Nancy was born Nov. 7, 1950. and raised in Gonic, N.H., to parents Henry and Rosilda (Bea) Newton. She graduated from Spaulding High School, the class of 1969. Nancy owned and operated her own business "Cottage Herbs" for 29 years. She was a member of the Cocheco Quilters Guild and the "Evergreen Chapter" of the Maine Pine Tree Quilters Guild. She loved gardening, quilting and serving the many customers that visited her shop.
Her greatest joys in life were being married to her husband Kevin, spending time with her children, grandchildren and the many wonderful friends and associates that she made at her shop.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Kevin Riley; her daughter, Kari (Riley) Brodie and son-in-law William Brodie and their son Micah James Brodie; her son, Kristopher Riley and daughter-in-law Tammy (Patch) Riley, their four children, Chelsea Elizabeth, Michael Scott, Logan Nancy and Thomas Kevin; her parents and siblings, Jane (Newton) Waisanen, George Newton, Clifford Newton and Gary Newton; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
At her request there will be no services. Burial will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers Nancy requested that donations be made to the following businesses: Seacoast Cancer Center, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, 789 Central Ave, Dover, NH 03820, Amy's Treats, 144 Oxford, Portsmouth, NH 03801, Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
