GREENLAND — Stanley C. Ross, Jr., 74, of Greenland, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at his home with family and friends by his side. He was married 53 years to his wife, Patricia A Ross. They had one son, Charles S. Ross.

He was born in Nantucket, Mass., on Dec. 3, 1935, the son of the late Stanley C. Ross, Sr. and Ida (Power) Ross.
Stan served in the U.S. Army for 26 years. He served in Vietnam. He spent many years as an Army Recruiter.
He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1992 in Shop 38. He was the proprietor of Basket Case Motorcycle, which he established in 1982. Stan was an avid motorcyclist.
Stan was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 184 in Dover, the American Legion Post 0200 in Concord and the Disabled American Veteran's Chapter 4.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. (Steffiare) Ross; his son, Chuck Ross and his lifelong partner, Raylene Schurman of Greenland; two grandsons, Joshua Ross of Kittery, Maine, and Charlie Ross of Greenland, and their mother, Sue Ross of Greenland; two nephews, Mike and Mark Fontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, at the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth. Graveside services will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H. Friends are invited.
