DOVER — Barbara Ann Roche, 88, of 82 Mt. Vernon St., died at the Hyder Family Hospice House on Feb. 12, 2011.

Born in Dover, Jan. 2, 1923, she was the daughter of Edward F. and Lavinia M. (Christie) Reilly. She graduated from St. Mary Academy in 1939 and Dover High School, Class of 1940 and attended McIntosh College 1940-42.

She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Portsmouth office, then in the Durham office until she married Francis X. Roche of Everett, Mass., and Berwick, Maine. They lived on Cranberry Meadow Road in Berwick for a few years then moved to 82 Mt. Vernon St. in Dover. In later years she worked at Prosper Shevenell for a few years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward in 1979 and Lavinia in 1987, her sister, Elaine A. Robinson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., in 1994 and her loving husband, Francis, in 1989.

She is survived by her son, Stephen F. Roche of Dover; his three children, Stephen P. of Dover, Kevin S. of Somersworth and Leslie Ann Murtagh of Tucson, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Daysia Marie Murtagh, also of Tucson; a brother, Edward F. Reilly, Jr. of Dover and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Dover, Rochester, Tennessee, Georgia and Massachusetts, also survived by a daughter, Marilyn Eileen (Roche) Whitehouse of Dover.

A graveside memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth, relatives and friends are invited to attend.
