ELIOT, Maine — Elaine T. Webber, 69, of Beech Road in Eliot, died on April 8, 2012, at York Hospital after a period of failing health.

Born in Exeter, N.H. on Dec. 22, 1942, she was a daughter of Harry and Julia (Wiscarva) Thurston. She attended St. Michaels until the eighth grade, graduating from Exeter High School with the class of 1960. She graduated with a business degree from McIntosh Business School and furthered her education by taking courses at the University of New Hampshire.

She married her loving husband of forty-seven years, Donald Webber Jr., in 1965, and together they made a home in Eliot where they raised three children. She worked for a time at Channel 11 in Durham as a production assistant until her first child was born, at which time she became a full-time mom. After her children were settled in school, she began working for Harrison Lemont in Kittery, managing the Pine Tree Country Store on US Route 1 in Kittery. She remained there for twenty seven years until her retirement in 2010.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, and acquiring moose collectibles. She enjoyed time spent at camp in Greenville, Maine, where she spent countless hours on the Golden Road searching for moose. She was an active member of St. Raphael Church in Kittery serving as president of the Altar Society for a time. She enjoyed serving her community for many years working with the Eliot Health Council at Well Baby Clinics. Most recently, she enjoyed spending time with her friends in the Crafty Divas' branch of the Red Hat Society. Her first love was unquestionably her family.

In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by two sons, Donald III of Eliot and Scott and his wife Susan, also of Eliot; a daughter, Sandra Packard and her husband Justin of Berwick; four grandchildren, Erica, Ryan, and Ryder Webber and Noah Packard; a brother, Harry Thurston Jr. and his wife Sandra of Langhorne, Penn.; an aunt, Rotha Wiscarva of Brentwood, N.H.; three nieces, Cyndi Mielke and her husband Kevin, Susan Thurston, and Julie Miller; one nephew, Harry (Chip) Thurston III and his wife Linda; and a very dear best friend, Gloria Blake.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Constance Cochrane; and her in-laws, Donald Sr. and Christine Webber.

Friends may visit with Elaine's family on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. in her church, St. Raphael Church on Whipple Road in Kittery. A time of sharing and refreshment will follow in McPherson Hall at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eliot.
