EPPING — Jean Hackenson, 56, of Epping, N.H., formerly of Middlebury, Conn,, died Saturday April 28, 2012, at the Boston Medical Center.

Ms. Hackenson was born April 20, 1956, in Waterbury, Conn., daughter of Nancy (Stella) Guerrera of Middlebury and the late John R. Guerrera.

Jean was raised in Middlebury, and was a 1974 graduate of Southbury High School. She was an avid music and animal lover. She loved gardening and arts and crafts and she was a wonderful cook and baker. She worked as a cosmetologist at Hair Plus in Southbury and as a fitness trainer at Curves in Bethlehem before moving to New Hampshire. Recently she became a Licensed Nurses Assistant, and worked at the Exeter on Hampton Rehabilitation Center. Jean was a 12 year breast cancer survivor, a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a son, Bruce Hackenson of Woodbury, two daughters, Leia Arold of Exeter, Rebecca Hackenson of Shelton, Conn., two sisters Joan Delaney of N.Y., and Jane Cyr of Middlebury, Conn., her ex-husband Craig D. Hackenson of Woodbury, 2 nieces and 3 nephews.

Jean's family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Boston Medical Center ICU for the kindness and compassion shown to them throughout the last week.

A memorial service in celebration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home for calling hours from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
