FARMINGTON — George R. Meyer, died June 11, 2012, at home in Farmington.

Born July 15, 1932, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he held a Master's Degree from the University of New Hampshire. George served 24 years with the United States Air Force, a Lieutenant Colonel Retired. He served as Executive Director of the Pease Development Authority for 10 years. George was active with Town Government, he served as Selectman of Farmington for two terms. He also served with the National Security Agency.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine and their four children, Jo-Ann Doke and husband Charles Doke, Terrie Nickerson and husband Ellery Nickerson, Jamie Meyer, and Michael Meyer; eight grandchildren, Charles Doke, Robyn Doke, Levi Nickerson, Lindsay Tompson and husband Travis Tompson, Dana Therrien, Keith Therrien, Jennifer Meyer, and Jared Meyer; five great grandchildren, Kayla Sexton, Sara Doke, Lauren Doke, Steven Tompson and Kaden Dow; brother in law, Orville Moss and wife Sally Moss; brother in law, Louis Caldarola and wife Ellen; sister in law, Georgene Meyer; three nephews; and one niece.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister; and brother.

As per his wishes, there are no visiting hours, a private military graveside ceremony will be held.
