NORTH HAMPTON — Harold Elwood Melvin, 87, died July 6, 2012, in Dover, NH.
He was born in Laconia, on April 19, 1925, the son of the late Tolford James and Ethyl Angie (Thompson) Melvin.
Harold was an active businessman in the seacoast area, a local proprietor in Exeter, and a former member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed music, fishing, golfing, boating, and especially spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judith Claire (Darby) Melvin and his son David B. Melvin and daughter Julie A. (Melvin) Citorik. Also, his seven grandchildren: Justin Melvin, Christopher Citorik, Robert Citorik, Gregory Melvin, Ryan Melvin, Jennifer Citorik and Benjamin Melvin. In addition, he leaves four great grandchildren: Aria, Ethan, Owen, and Aidan Melvin. He is also survived by his two sisters: Gladys Stuart and Ellen Lee. Predeceased by his brothers Carl Melvin and James Melvin.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, from 4-6 p.m. at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH.
Funeral Services will be held graveside at North Hampton Center Cemetery, Post Road, North Hampton, NH on Wednesday, July 11 at 10 a.m. in the morning.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to request that people make a donation to the Hyder Family Hospice House, where Harold and his family received compassionate care during his last days. Checks should be made payable to the Christen Foundation with the memo "In memory of Harold E. Melvin" and sent to Hyder Family Hospice House, 285 County Farm Road, Dover, NH 03820.
