She was born May 11, 1914, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Annie Ash Grimes. Dorothy was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and was a teacher at Dover High School in Dover, N.H., and W. Tresper Clarke High School in Westbury, N.Y., for many years prior to her retirement. She was an accomplished quilter and baker, most notably for her Meringues and five-star Fruit Cake.
She was the sister of the late Honorable William A. Grimes and the treasured mother of Pamela Perry and Priscilla McGinn; beloved grandmother of Kevin F. McGinn; cherished sister-in-law of Alberta Felch of Hampton, N.H.; dearest aunt of Gordon Grimes and family of Durham, Maine; dearest cousin of Martin and Jeanne Merrill of Granby, Mass., and George and Jane Anne Sherwood, Dover, N.H., and the devoted friend of Daphne Joslin of Nyack, N.Y., and Deeg Mackay of Simsbury. We celebrate her love that lives in our hearts eternally.
A spring service will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, N.H. Memorial donations may be sent to the Helen Hayes Hospital, 51 N Route 9W, West Haverstraw, NY 10993.
