NEWFIELDS — Shirley L. Rollins, 83, of Piscassic Road, died Sept. 22, 2012, at Edgewood Centre, Portsmouth.

Born April 25, 1929 in Kittery Point, Maine, she was the daughter of Reginald and Mildred (Emery) Muchemore. Raised in Kittery Point she lived in Newfields for 56 years.

Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Traip Academy. During World War II she worked as a telephone operator in Portsmouth. For several years she was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 190.

Shirley was an active member of the Newfields Community Church, where she taught Sunday School and worked on various committees.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman S. Rollins who died in 2008; by a sister, Phyllis Moulton; a brother, Reginald Muchemore Jr.; and by a half-brother, Robert Muchemore.

Shirley is survived by four children, Kenneth A. Rollins and wife Sylvia and N. Alan Rollins all of Newfields, Katherine A. MacDonald and husband Robert of N. Berwick, Maine, and Brian Rollins and wife Lauren of Merrimack, N.H.; grandchildren, Ronald T. Smith Jr., Timothy M. Rollins, Sarah E. Rollins Brooks, Alex G. Rollins and Scott T. Rollins; great grandchildren, Abigail L. Smith, Allison R. Smith, John J. Brooks, Hunter Brooks, and Aubree Brooks; half-brothers and sister, Richard Muchemore, Douglas Muchemore, Ronald Muchemore, David Muchemore, Kenneth Muchemore and Marilyn Melanson; many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter, St., Newmarket, on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by a funeral service at noon, and then burial in the Newfields Cemetery, Route 108, Newfields.
