YORK, Maine - Virginia A. Butterworth, 83, of 161 York St., and a longtime resident of Hampton, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. She was born Sept. 30, 1929 in Lawrence, Mass. a daughter of the late Ernest and Margaret (Shattuck) Zecchini.

Her husband of 58 years, Alfred E. Butterworth, died June 5, 2009.

She leaves two sons, Bruce M. Butterworth of Seabrook, and David S. Butterworth of Farmington; four grandchildren, Lisa Nicole, Chad and Corey; and two great-grandchildren. Virginia had worked as a waitress for Jerry's Restaurant in Hampton for 25 years.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Lucas & Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York, Maine. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to , 30 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701. Visit
