Mary Anne enjoyed her early years, growing up on the New Jersey shore. She loved the ocean, and Manasquan, N.J, was always a treasured locale for her. She attended high school in Florida and was an avid acrobatic water skier. Mary Anne attended nursing school at Cook County in Chicago, Illinois.
Married in 1952, Mary Anne met her future husband on an eastbound train from Chicago as he was returning home from the Korean War. After marrying, her husband's employment afforded them the opportunity to live and travel extensively throughout the world, including Australia, Canada, South Africa, Italy and France. Many of her lifelong acquaintances are a result of her travels.
Upon returning to the United States, Mary Anne and her family lived in Virginia and Connecticut, before their retirement to Carl's family homestead in Lee. A champion gourmet cook, Mary Anne's mastery in the kitchen was unsurpassed; a favorite of all the family was her signature carrot cake. While living in Lee, Mary Anne was active in researching family and local history, including her family's involvement in the underground railroad. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital and was always reaching out to help others.
Outgoing and vivacious, Mary Anne had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to entertain guests from near and afar.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl W. Lomison of Lee; four children, Margaret Cave, Suzanne Richardson, Elizabeth Evans and Scott Lomison; seven grandchildren, Justin, Graeme and Alison Cave, Trapper, Colin and Glenn Evans and Adam Richardson, and one great grandchild Carson Evans.
Mary Anne is predeceased by her sister, Margaret DeSanta, and by her daughter, Gerinda Lomison.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at the family plot in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover, N.H., with Robert Warner, Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary Anne's name may be made to the N.H. Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, N.H. 03247.
