PORTSMOUTH - Virginia Caswell Faulkner passed away peacefully on December 3, 2012.

A longtime resident of Portsmouth, born on November 24, 1918, she was the daughter of Harry C. Caswell and Mildred (Flint) Caswell and also the granddaughter of the Honorable John W. Caswell.
Known to many as "Ginny," she was a graduate of Portsmouth High School Class of 1936. She spent many years working for the N.H. National Bank and the First National Bank of Portsmouth. In 1980, after 18 years of service, she retired from the City of Portsmouth Accounting Department.
Active in her community, Ginny was a lifelong member of the North Congregational Church contributing many years of service volunteering in the "Nearly New" Thrift Shoppe. She also was a member of the Piscataqua Business and Professional Women's Club, the Portsmouth Women's City Club, the Bridget Graffort Club, the Portsmouth Garden Club, AARP & NARFE.
For the past 5 years, Ginny was a resident of Bellamy Fields in Dover. There she reconnected with past friends and made many new ones. She was cared for by many special people who she held very dear to her heart.
Ginny is survived by her "adopted family," Earleen Fernald of Portsmouth, Laura and John Bailey and their children of Greenland and Lisa and Steve Shawney and their children of Northwood. She is also survived by her godson Dane Curtis, his wife Sue and their sons of Buxton, Maine.
She was predeceased by her parents, sisters, Helen and Harriett, brother, Forrest, and her husband Frank Faulkner. She was also predeceased by a member of her adopted family Frank Fernald.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the North Church Parish House Chapel, 355 Spinney Road, Portsmouth, N.H. Friends are invited. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Portsmouth Salvation Army, 15 Middle Street, Portsmouth, N.H. 03801.
