Judith Manion KishRYE - Judith Manion Kish, 71, of Rye, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in Greenland, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1942, in Oil City, Pa., the daughter of the late Daniel Jr. and Ruth (Dempsey) Manion.
Judy graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Oil City, in 1959. She was then recruited by the University of Rochester as an Eastman School of Music student and graduated with a BA in Music and Education in 1963. Over the span of more than 50 years, she brought music to countless students in the school systems of Rochester, N.Y., Richmond, Va., and Rye. Judy was a much sought after piano teacher who held the highest standard of excellence for herself and for her students.
She was the founder of the choir at Saint Theresa's Church in Rye Beach and served as the church organist and music director. Judy had played for nearly every wedding and funeral held at the church for the last 34 years. She was a member of the Rockingham Chorale Society. She also served on the Rannie Webster Board of Trustees for Webster at Rye and was the treasurer for the Seacoast N.H. Music Teachers Association for over 20 years.
To the delight of family and friends, her talented hands extended to her annual vegetable garden which she shared with everyone. Her beloved dog, Coda, as well as her many other dogs, were a source of companionship, comfort, and joy to her throughout the years. Judy's fun-loving sense of humor, shining personality and graceful and endearing manner will be dearly missed by all knew and loved her.
Family members include her son, David Kish and his wife, Elizabeth, of Greenland, her sister, Mary Catherine 'Cathy' Manion, of Oil City, Pa, her sister-in-law, Sandra Manion, her niece, Dr. Jill Manion; and nephews, Andrew Manion and Sean Manion, and his wife, Lindsey. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends who provided help and support during her illness, especially her Saint Theresa choir "family" and Dr. Gary and Trisha Kish and their son, Ryan.
She was predeceased by her son, Timothy Kish, and her two brothers, Daniel and Robert Manion.
