Brenda Elaine Clement

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Brenda Elaine Clement (Hussey) 71, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospice, The Villages, Fla. after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Berwick, Maine, on Feb. 14, 1942, to Oscar and Vivian Hussey (Morrill) and was raised on the family farm. Brenda was educated in Berwick schools and graduated from Berwick High School in 1960. She worked her way through college and earned a teaching degree from the University of New Hampshire. Brenda taught high school and coached girls' basketball for many years at Noble High in Berwick and also started several local area businesses, including The Village Lunch and Soft-Serve, Ink.

In 1960, Brenda married her high school sweetheart, Nelson H. Clement. Together they raised three sons and lived in Berwick on the Blackberry Hill Road family farm for most of their years together. Brenda was a talented artist and enjoyed all kinds of arts & crafts, sewing, knitting and quilting. She was also an avid gardener and a voracious reader. Notably, Brenda had a lifelong commitment to helping others; including inviting several individuals in need to live in her home over the years. Brenda and Nelson moved to The Villages, Fla. in 2010.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Nelson H. Clement; son Nelson C. and wife Valerie Clement of Hopedale, Mass.; son David and wife Maureen Clement of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and son Ryan and wife Jennifer Clement of Boca Raton, Fla. She is also survived by eight beloved grandchildren, Sarah and Catherine of Hopedale, Mass.; Morgan, Alec and Haley of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; and Chase, Cassidy and Bryce of Boca Raton, Fla. Brenda also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and special friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Memorial Service celebrating Brenda's life will be held at Beyer's Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy. 441, Lady Lake, Fla. on March 23, 2013, from 1-3 p.m. (Informal gathering at 1 p.m. - Memorial Service at 2 p.m.)

An additional Memorial Service for Berwick area family and friends will be held at Laing-Bibber Funeral Chapel, 36 Rochester St., Berwick, Maine on Saturday, April 27, 2013, with an informal gathering from noon to 1 p.m., followed by the Memorial Service at 1 p.m.

Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Berwick, Maine.
