SALEM, N.H. - Rita Darois, 91, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Kindred Rehabilitation Facility in Dover, N.H.
She was the wife of the late Ernest Darois for 44 years, until his death in 1987.
Born in Methuen, Mass., on June 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Marie L. (Dubois) and Oliver C. Maurice, of Haverhill Mass.
Rita had been a resident of Salem since 1980 and had previously resided in Methuen and Haverhill. She graduated from Haverhill High School and was crowned Miss Haverhill in 1940.
She, along with her late husband, Ernest, founded Daren's Music Center, of Derry, N.H., in 1966.
Rita is survived by 4 sons and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Rita was also predeceased by her sister, Irene Darois, who was married to her husband's brother, Harold.
Rita led an active and happy life at her home in Salem, frequently enjoying the company of family and friends.
For the past several years, she was an active participant at the Silverthorne Senior Center, where she expanded her network of friends and was loved by many.
A memorial service for Rita will be held on Saturday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church at 200 Lawrence Road in Salem.
