BUNNELL, Fla. - George William Curran of Bunnell, Fla., passed away peacefully July 16, 2014, at Haven Hospice in Palatka, Fla., after a long hospitalization following surgery. He was born September 24, 1942, in Rochester, to Harry and Alice (Gagnon) Curran. George graduated from Somersworth High School, class of 1961, and attended McIntosh Business College. He was a Charter Member of the Somersworth Rotary Club. As a self-employed Businessman and Entrepreneur, he owned apartment buildings and businesses throughout the tri-city area before moving to Fla. in 1983. One business, The Redmen Club in Rollinsford, was well known in the mid-to-late 1970s as THE place to go for rock and roll. In Florida, he was primarily involved in development and sales in several manufactured home parks. His most recent business venture, before retirement, was land development in western Flagler County, Fla., putting up dozens of new homes. George and his wife, Pam, were avid collectors, spending many years going to antiques shows, shops and malls, and he was proud of having co-authored a book about "Collectible California Raisins." George loved life, making friends wherever he went. Friends and family were warmly welcomed to his home, and it was never long before a deck of cards came out for a game of Whist. In recent years, he had a special group of friends who met every day for breakfast at a local McDonalds. Known as the "McDonald's President's Breakfast Club", they'll greatly miss George's storytelling and friendship.
George is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Duvall Curran; four daughters, Melanie Goodwin and husband David, of Palm Coast, Fla.; Melissa Lussier and husband Marc of Candia; Melinda Longtin and husband Robert of South Berwick, Maine; Christina Cashman and husband Matt of Somersworth; two stepdaughters, Karen L.
