Nancy Roberts Obituary

Nancy Roberts

RYE - Nancy B. Roberts, 58, of Rye, N.H. passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Nancy was born March 18, 1956, the only child of the late Clyde and Elisabeth Roberts of Rollinsford, N.H. She was a graduate of Berwick Academy and Bates College and a longtime resident of Rye.

Nancy was well-known in the seacoast area as a talented musician. She was the music director and organist at York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church for many years, taught piano to hundreds of young students, and was much in demand as an accompanist at horse shows around the country. She loved her Siamese cats and was an active member of Siamese Rescue of New Hampshire.

She is survived by several cousins in the local area, including Stephen Roberts of Rollinsford, Susan Roberts Inoue of Kennebunkport, Debbie Tasker of Dover, and Alma and Janice Henderson of York; cousin Aline Houston of Wheaton, Illinois; and by many close friends who provided loving care and support during her illness, including dear friends Jane Langmaid, Cyndi Seavey, Mary Pelletier, Barbara Kohl and Judy Haszard, and her neighbors Kathy and Ed Hajjar.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the spring in New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford. Memorial contributions may be made to Siamese Rescue of New Hampshire.

I knew Nancy growing up in Rollinsford where I baby sat her as a chlid. She played the organ for my wedding in 1971 when she was a mere teenager. Her talent shone even then. My condolences for her passing .

Nancy was my children's amazing piano teacher. She fostered their growth from kindergarten tinkling into pre-teen rock music, rewriting complicated sheet music so they could perform Green Day and Cold Play. Nancy arranged their score for The Addams Family performance in the North Hampton Talent Show. We will always remember her for going way beyond what an average instructor would do for her pupils, always with a cheerful laugh and happy loving smile. I'm sorry that she left us too early, God bless you Nancy. We will never forget you. Howie "Kyle", Cormac & Fionnuala Mahoney

Nancy was my children's piano teacher. She started teaching all of them in Kindergarten. She had incredible patience and a unique ability to connect & motivate young children. Nancy helped all of my children develop a life long love for music. She taught them that practice makes perfect and hard work pays off. She will be deeply missed by our family and many others in North Hampton where she taught for years. Rest in Peace Nancy.
God Bless.

RIP my friend!

I knew Nancy through and across the years and miles as organists and students of Joe Bucci. She was truly very, very talented and was always an inspiration. She was always determined to be the best but without being unduly rude as so many other musicians can be. I'm very sad to hear of her passing and I am sure that the angels are greeting her with a musical assignment of one kind or another. May she rest in peace, the musical community has just experienced a loss that can not be filled.
