Janice Moe Obituary

Myrtle Beach, SC…Janice N. Moe passed peacefully from this life with family at her side on January 4, 2014 at the Agape Hospice facility in Conway, South Carolina. Janice was born August 8, 1940 in Tracy, Minnesota to Rolf A. and Bernita (Olson) Nackerud. Janice graduated from Walnut Grove High School in Minnesota, attended the University of Minnesota and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. After her marriage to James B. Moe, she worked for several years in library administration at the University of Minnesota. Their family moved as her husband's career led them to reside in Dodge Center, Minnesota, and various military assignments in Maryland, Texas and California. They later resided in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Japan when her husband was employed by The Upjohn Company. They moved to Myrtle Beach in 2001 where they became members of Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church. In addition to caring for their four children during her husband's many absences on military assignments and business travel, Janice was active in various volunteer activities, including military Officers' Wives' Clubs, Girl Scouts, The Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway and her children's schools. Janice served for several years as the primary staff administrator for the Frederick County, Maryland Library System and after retiring from that position, she moved with the family to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she worked in personnel administration and continued with volunteer activities. Janice loved rosemaling (Scandinavian decorative painting), various crafts, and cooking. She also was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making clothing, especially dresses, for her children and grandchildren. Janice's main passion in life was her family, as indicated by her care and support for her parents in their later years, and as demonstrated by her enduring love, support and devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren. Janice is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim, three daughters Carolyn (Todd) Marshall, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Alyson (Duane) Beck, Aurora, Illinois; Jennifer (Bill) Netemeyer, Grand Rapids, Michigan; son Bryce Moe, Frankenmuth, Michigan; seven granddaughters (Madison, Carlea, Reagan, Claire, Marisa, Isabella and Julia), two grandsons (Ryan and Adam), brothers David, Bruce and Jay Nackerud; and sisters Marianne Averill and Diane Meth. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, 2637 South Hwy. 17, Murrells Inlet, SC, with Pastor Brad Bellah officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be given to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or the charity of individual choice.
