Richard L. Cepela, 86, of Orrtanna, PA died Monday afternoon, March 10, 2014 at his home.
Born November 13, 1927 in Wyoming, Michigan he was the son of the late Ladislav and Rose Cepela. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Bakale) Cepela who died June 21, 1995.
Mr. Cepela was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He retired from the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC and then worked for the Federal Government in the Department of Energy.
Mr. Cepela is survived by his son, Frank Cepela, of Winder, GA, his daughter, Susan Springer, of Thurmont, MD, sister-in-laws, Mildred Bakale, of Rockville, MD, Carole Haefs, of Vienna, VA, Alice Manzella, of Belle Mead, NJ, and brother-in-law, George Bakale and his wife Margaret, of Cleveland, OH, companion Isabelle Frederick of Greencastle, PA, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be at the 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the United Methodist Cemetery of Dunlo with Rev. Earl Butterfield officiating. The Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg is in charge of the funeral arrangements and online condolences may be made at monahanfuneralhome.com.
