Alan Zoberbier(1945 - 2013)

Mr. Alan Roy "Mr. Zippy" Zoberbier, 68, of Frederick, passed away unexpectedly on December 2, 2013. He was the husband of Donna Zoberbier, of Frederick, his wife of 27 years. He has gone to rest in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.



Born March 10, 1945 in Rochester, NY, Alan was the son of the late Roy and Jessie Zoberbier. He served as a firefighter in the U.S. Air Force, and worked as an executive with AVEMCO Insurance Company for 28 years. He was a member of the American Legion FSK Post 11, President of the TLC Club within the Legion, and a member of AMVETS Post #2 and the V.F.W.



In his retirement, this avid Washington Redskins fan became a popular school bus driver for Frederick County Public Schools. Known as "Mr. Zippy," Alan strived to bring fun to every student's day with his kooky hats and caring disposition. As he always said, "It's all about the kids."



In addition to his loving wife, Alan is survived by his son Daniel Zoberbier (Veronica), daughter Carri Kessler (William), and his beloved granddaughters Grace and Hadley. He is also survived by a sister, Joanne Necrason (Nicholas), many other nieces and nephews, as well as a special niece Samantha Roberts.



A celebration of Alan's life, open to the public, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8th from 1- 4pm at the AMVETS Post #2, 702 E. South St. in Frederick. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation in his name to a . Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services in Frederick.
