Rev. Albert K. Lane Jr. (1932 - 2013)

Rev. Albert K. Lane, Jr., 80 of Finksburg, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at home. Born December 22, 1932 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Albert K. Lane, Sr., and Lora Hicks Lane. Survived by his wife of 58 years Grace W. Lane, whom he married June 11, 1955.


He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic High School in 1951, Johns Hopkins University in 1954 and Wesley Theological Seminary in 1968. He was a veteran of the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was a retired pastor, who served the Baltimore- Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church since 1965. He served at Jollytown (PA) Charge, Libertytown United Methodist Church, Wesley- Freedom United Methodist Church, Lexington Park United Methodist Church, Forest Memorial United Methodist Church, West Baltimore United Methodist Church, and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. After retiring he served Bethel, Stone Chapel, Wesley (Hampstead), Calvary (Gamber) and Westminster United Methodist Churches. He was an avid sports fan, who especially enjoyed supporting Johns Hopkins lacrosse, Baltimore Orioles baseball, and Baltimore football. He had a great love of family, was supportive of his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.


Surviving in addition to his wife are his son and daughter-in-law Rev. Albert K. Lane, III and Dayna of Walkersville, daughters and
sons-in-law Martha E. Milli and Michel of Reisterstown, Jean A Litfin and Matthew of Eldersburg and Helen L. Semkiw and Roman of New Market. In addition, he is survived by his 11 grandchil- dren, 1 great-grandchild and several cousins.


A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Westminster United Methodist Church, 165 E. Main St., Westminster with Rev. Dr. Laura Easto officiat- ing. Interment will be at Wesley United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m until the time of service at the church.
