Mr. Charles Addison Dixon, 92, of Frederick and formerly of Woodsboro, died Monday, November 25, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born September 9, 1921 in Middleburg, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Elizabeth McKinney Dixon. He was the husband of Henrietta "Mickey" Bair Dixon who died in 2009. Mr. Dixon served in the Army
Air Force during World War II
with the 303rd Air Drone seeing action in the South Pacific. He also served in the Army Reserves with the 558th Signal Company for 20 years and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was formerly employed in the Transportation Department at Fort Detrick for 25 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Woodsboro; V.F.W
. Post# 3285 and AMVETS Post #2, both of Frederick and the Glenn W. Eyler American Legion Post, Woodsboro. He had been an avid golfer and also enjoyed traveling and early morning breakfasts with his family and friends. Surviving are a son, Charles Michael Dixon and Doris of Smithsburg; 2 grandchildren, Melissa Dixon of Sharpsburg and Jason Dixon of Frederick; 2 great grandchildren, Jessica and Shelby Hanes; a great great grandson, Weston Brooks and a brother, Robert L. Dixon and wife Bonnie of Woodsboro. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ramsburg. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with Rev. Sean Delawder, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.
