Mr. Larry Edward Brown, 73, of Taneytown, died on Wednesday, November
6 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Diane
(Schmaldinst) Brown. Born on June 22, 1940, he was the son of the
late Carl E. Brown and Mary Evelyn (Hoffman) Brown.
A 1958 Frederick High School graduate, Mr. Brown graduated from
Western Maryland College and subsequently served in the West Virginia
Air National Guard from 1963 to 1969 as a Staff Sergeant. Larry was a
social worker with the State of Maryland for 30 years, having
graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with his
MSW. He was both personally and professionally dedicated to the care
of foster children. After his retirement, he worked for Catoctin
Mountain Growers as a driver and later as a driver for the ARC of
Carroll County. Larry was a fan of NASCAR and enjoyed working on cars
at his home garage in Taneytown. He liked camping with his family,
going to auctions and also had a special place in his heart for his
dogs Rocky and Opie as well as his grand-dog Celia.
In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by children Laura Ellen
Dulany and husband Anand Sivaramakrishnan of Baltimore, Linda Brown of
New York, New York, Matthew Brown of Baltimore, Tim Brown and wife
Samantha of Taneytown and Ross Brown of Taneytown as well as
grandchildren Jocelyn Dulany of Baltimore and Braden and Mason Brown,
both of Taneytown. He is also survived by sister Romaine Eyler of
Westminster as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10 from 2-4 and
6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street,
Frederick. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 11 at
11:00 AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street, Frederick.
Those attending are asked to assemble at the FSK Chapel at Mount
Olivet by 10:45 AM.

Mission, 1029 East Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202, an
organization that was instrumental in saving son Matthew's life, or to
Wounded Warriors Project , 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville,
Florida 32256, to honor son Tim's service in the United States Marine
