Carroll W. Robinson, 84, of Mt. Airy, died on September 2, 2013.|
He was the husband of Florence N. Robinson, his wife of 63 years.
Born July 29, 1929 in Clintonville, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Elsie R. Hedrick and Guy A. Robinson.
Carroll was a veteran of the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He was a licensed electri- cian and commercial devel- oper. Carroll was the owner of Mt. Airy Development. He built and managed 71 unit apartment complex and medical center located in Mt. Airy which he continued to maintain prior to his retirement.
He enjoyed many hobbies two of which were golfing and flying his twin engine piper. An avid hunter, Carroll went to Wyoming, Canada and Alaska. He spent a great deal of time at his West Virginia retreat. During the summer he would escape to his Ocean City beach home.
Carroll was an honorary charter member for 27 years of the Mt. Airy Rotary Club. He was honored by becoming a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a life member of the Westminster Elks Club and a life member of the Mt. Airy American Legion.
He is survived by one sister, Joanne R. Stallings of Mt. Airy and many nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister and her husband, Marjorie and Hanford Van Sant and one brother-in-law Harold Stallings.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy. The services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 6 where Pastor Art Monroe will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
