Leonard (Len) L. Collins, age 86 of Frederick, MD passed on October 17, 2013 under Hospice care at Frederick Memorial Hospital.|
Len was born to the late Leonard T. and Katherine A. Collins in Chevy Chase, MD. He graduated from Balboa Senior High School, Panama Canal Zone where his father worked as a Civil Engineer. Upon graduation in 1945 he joined the U.S. Navy assigned to a P.T. Boat. He served again during the Korean War aboard the Battleship – U.S.S. Missouri.
After his military service he worked in law enforcement with the Montgomery County Police Dept., Montgomery County, MD from where he retired as 1st Lt.
Len is survived by his wife, Doris L. Collins, Frederick, MD; six children, Lennie Jo O'Dell, South Carolina; Wayne L. Collins, Alabama; Kenneth W. Collins, Baltimore, MD; Denise C. Karnes, Frederick, MD; Lynnette N. Snyder, Ellicott City, MD; Jae D. Collins, Silver Spring, MD; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, nieces and nephews.
Cremated services performed by Stauffer Funeral Homes. A private family service will be held at a later date in Leonardtown, MD.
