Mrs. Mary Jane Rice, 73, of Middletown, died Friday, October 4, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. She was the wife of Charles M. Rice.|
Born in California, Pa., April 12, 1940, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes Sloan Askins.
She was employed at Vindobona Nursing Home in Braddock Heights as a nurse until her retirement.
Surviving, besides her husband, are six children, Virginia Rollins, of New Windsor, Debra Fraley, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Cheryle Rice, of Middletown, Charles Wilbur Rice, of Frederick, Tracey Parker, of Louisville, Ky., and William Rice, of Hagerstown; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters, Pete Askins, of Lititz, Pa., Ray Askins, of Atlanta, Ga., Arthur Askins, of Bentonville, Va., Bart Askins, of Landover, Donnie Askins, of Clear Spring, Sissy Askins, of Leola, Pa., and Winnie Thompson, of Pennsylvania.
She was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Lawson; and a brother, James Askins.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 19, at the Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., Middletown.
