Mr. Richard Lee "Dick" Kline, 88, of Woodsboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his home. |
Born February 7, 1925 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Silas A. and Etta Mae Kline.
He was the husband of Mary Ellen Kline, his wife of 65 years.
Mr. Kline served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, 1943 - 1945, as a staff sergeant sharp shooter, receiving medals of honor: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with a bronze arrowhead oak leaf cluster to the bronze medal.
He was a self-employed builder/contractor and in later years worked in landscaping. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God, Walkersville and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Richard Wayne Kline and wife Jeanne of Walkersville; Beverly Ann Hoffman and husband Paul of Woodsboro; Wanda Jean Stup of Thurmont; Carroll Ray Kline and wife Linda of Keymar and Peggy Sue Mathews and husband Michael of Keymar; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Staley and Ruth Baker and brother, William Kline.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Biddinger, Mary Engle and Zelma Caples and brothers, Ray, Silas and Ira Kline.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 18, at the Calvary Assembly of God, with Rev. John Kenney, church pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery, near Woodsboro.
The family will receive friends at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 17.
