Mrs. Alice Virginia Barger, 84, of Westminster, died early Friday morning, March 19, 2004, at her home in Carroll Lutheran Village.|
Born Feb. 27, 1920, in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late G. Allan and Susan C. Catrow Weller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Barger, in 1991.
Mrs. Barger was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a long-time member of the Matinee Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and playing cards.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kirby and Debbie Barger of Westminster; a daughter-in-law, Wilma Barger of Ellicott City; a brother, Norman Weller of Westminster, and brother and sister-in-law Donald and Madalyn Weller of Westminster; sister-in-law Inez Barger of Westminster; grandchildren, Karen Barger of Los Angeles, Calif., and Christian and Jennifer Barger of Westminster; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Barger, in 2000; a sister, Helen Crofton; a brother-in-law, Ben Barger; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Weller.
The family will receive friends at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 91 Willis St., Westminster, on Sunday, March 21, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3, in Krug Chapel Auditorium at Carroll Lutheran Village, Westminster, with Chaplain Jimmie C. Schwartz officiating. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. April 3, at the Old German Reformed Church, Burkittsville, followed by a burial of cremated remains in Burkittsville Union Cemetery.
