Amelia Hernández Obituary
Amelia Hernández, a Spanish Professor Emerita of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Hood College, passed away January 13, 2013, in Ottumwa, Iowa, surrounded by her loving sister Ana and her husband Larry.

Dr. Hernández was born October 23, 1932 in Havana, Cuba. She lived in her native city until 1962, when she arrived in Miami, Florida, on a "Freedom Flight," to teach at Loyola Military School. That same year she moved to Neola, Iowa, and in 1963 to Riverside, Wyoming, in both cases to teach Spanish. Shortly after she took the position at Hood, from where sheretired in 1996 after 30 years of dedication to the students and the institution.

There will be a funeral service in her honor at Coffman Chapel, Hood College, February 22 at 2 p.m.
