Thinking of Artie as I so often do on these quiet, peaceful Sunday mornings on the deck. I still hear him as we'd work on the Sunday Post crossword puzzle and a pot of coffee together. Blissful days, in retrospect.
Artie, you are loved and missed.

My deepest sympathy to the Read family. Art and I were friends in high school and graduated together. Though after graduation we went our seperate ways, he and I remained in contact on Facebook. Art had a smart, witty sense of humor I will always remember. RIP Art!!!

My thought and prayers are with the Read family. Arthur and I stayed in touch on Facebook. He often put a "Yowza" on my posts which always made me laugh.

Condolences to the family. We were childhood friends since we grew up one block away. What I remember best about Art was his mischievousness and wonderful sense of humor.

Read family, and friends, you have my deepest sympathy and condolences.
I treasure wonder-full memories of Art, including him showing me the Cape's abundant history. Somewhere I have a photo of him on a sea-walk with his pants hanging perilously low because his pockets were full of the sea stones I absolutely had to have but couldn't carry because my own pockets were full. We taste-tested most of Provincetown's restaurants' clam chowder, to ensure that Art's mom really does make the best as vehemenently proclaimed by Art. Yes, she does.
And I'll never forget him taking me out to sea from P-town in the little family boat, until something larger than the boat surfaced very near. Like a good captain he expediently returned boat and terrified passenger to safer waters. Laughing, "It was only a whale! Probably." He was wonderful with critters; every one of mine adored him. We all did.
Rest in peace, Cap'n Artie. You were special and will always be loved.
