Mr. Garnett Edward Adams, 86, of Frederick, died on Sunday, Dec. 25, at the Kline Hospice House, Mount Airy, Md. He was the husband of Barbara Joan Hyans Adams.|
Born March 7, 1919 at Soper, Okla., Mr. Adams was the son of the late Garnett William and Sudie Wideman Adams.
Mr. Adams served with the Civilian Conservation Corps within the state of Colorado prior to entering the United States Army, where her served in the South Pacific during World War II. He served for over 27 years with the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles, Calif., until his retirement in 1974.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Frederick, and had been active for many years in California with the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church and the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
A 56-year member of the American Legion, he was a current member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion, Frederick, Md.
Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Catherine Ciesinski and husband Charles of Frederick, Md.; one son, Curtis Adams and wife Toni Chancellor of Watertown, Mass.; one sister, Joyce E. Hanson of Manteca, Calif.; two grandchildren, Erik Ciesinski and Lauren Ciesinski; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 West Seventh Street, Frederick. The Rev. Ronald E. Reaves, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
The Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, is in charge of the arrangements.
