Mrs. Jane Wassung Adams, 78, of Frederick, died Wednesday morning, November 29, 2006, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Commander Robert Kennedy Adams (U.S.C.G.-Retired), who died in December 2002.|
Born June 30, 1928, in Middletown, N.Y., Mrs. Adams was a daughter of the late George and Ruth Cockburn Wassung.
Mrs. Adams was a member of the Brookhill United Methodist Church in Yellow Springs, the P.E.O. and the Historical Society of Frederick County.
Surviving are three daughters, Priscilla A. Parker and husband Thomas F. of Silver Spring, Jennifer A. Sollenberger and husband James M. of Orrville, Ohio, and Melinda A. Rentschler and husband J. David of Frederick; one brother, Robert B. Wassung and wife Mary of East Lyme, Conn.; eight grandchildren, Carrie D'Antuono and husband Justin, Ben and Abby Parker, Emily, Mike and Sarah Sollenberger and Jack and Rebecca Rentschler; and five nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, on Friday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, from the Brookhill United Methodist Church, Yellow Springs, with the Rev. Linda A. Warehime, associate pastor of the church, officiating.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Fort Myer, Va., at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19. Please meet at the Administration Building.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Brookhill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Rd., Frederick, MD 21702; the Historical Society of Frederick County, 24 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701; or the Connecticut College, 270 Mogegan Ave., New London, CT 06320.
