Mr. John Quincy Adams Jr., 73, of Frederick, died suddenly Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home.

He was the husband of Joan E. Morris Adams.

Born March 13, 1934, in Frederick, he was a son of the late John Q. and Nannie Marie Masser Adams Sr.

Mr. Adams graduated from Frederick High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve from 1953 through 1959, including being stationed in Germany from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of the Edgewood First Church of God, Frederick.

Mr. Adams owned and operated A&M Auto Body Shop for more than 34 years, until his retirement in 2000. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed NASCAR racing, as well as the 75-80 Dragway in Monrovia.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, John Q. "Nick" Adams II and special friend Toni Munoz of Frederick, Kevin Lee Adams and wife Lori Ann of Middletown; one daughter, Donna Jean Adkins and husband Robert of Frederick; one sister, Bonnie Ramsburg and husband Dewey of Garrett County; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Stitely and husband William of Frederick; six grandchildren, Robert L. Adkins Jr., Megan Adkins, Brandi Sutherlin, Adrianne Adams, Jacob "Jake" Adams and Andrew "Drew" Adams; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 13, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 14, from the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. David D. Dormer Jr., officiating.

Interment will be in Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick.
