Mr. Leonard Wayne Moxley, 71, of Damascus, Md., passed away surrounded by family, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Maryland, Friday, September 20, 2013. He was born on the family farm in Damascus, December 28, 1941 to the late Raymond M. and Madeline Day Moxley.|
Leonard graduated from Damascus High school class of 1960, where he was President of the FFA. Following graduation, he worked at Peoples Lumber Supply Co. in Mt. Airy, Maryland; and owned and operated LW Moxley Backhoe Services. He retired from Montgomery Co. Fire and Rescue Services in 1988 with 25 years of service all at Bethesda Station.
He was a member of Montgomery United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir for over 60 years. He also played in the Browningsville Cornet Band. He was a past President and life member of the Damascus Volunteer Fire Department.
Leonard was well known in the Damascus Community for his kind deeds, and could be found at Tom and Rays Restaurant in the mornings. He was also known as an ice cream connoisseur. Taking care of his family and friends, was his priority in life.
He is survived by wife, Alfredia Moxley of Frederick; sons Kevin and wife Diane of Panama City, Florida; Kris and wife Jubee of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Kelly and partner Mindy Roche, New Market; grandchildren, Daniel and fiancee Bethany Coombs, Kristopher, Nathaniel, Kerri and Kelsey
Also surviving is his partner of 17 years, JoAnn Norris of Damascus, and family Dana and Mike Sentz, and Duane Norris. Grandchildren, Drew and Brianna Norris, and Michael and Matthew Sentz; and sisters, Gloria Warfield, Gaithersburg; Donna Isaacs and husband Skip, Damascus; and Kate Warfield, Damascus.

Visitation will be at Montgomery United Methodist Church on Wednesday, September 25th from 5-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at Montgomery United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 26 at 11:00 am
Interment at Montgomery Methodist Cemetery following services.
