Robert William Alwine, 77, of Thurmont, died peacefully Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his home following a lengthy illness.|
Born July 22, 1932, in Hanover, Pa., he was the son of the late Maurice W. and Blanche (Jacob) Alwine. He was the husband of the late Norma (Heiner) Alwine.
He was self-employed in the tire service business in the Taneytown area for 45 years, and owned and operated Bob's Tire Service. He enjoyed his pet animals, especially his cats, goats and sheepdog Patches. Bob enjoyed working in his yard and playing the lottery.
Surviving are a daughter, Sharon R. Kehr of East Berlin, Pa.; stepchildren, Roxane Warehime and Jeffrey Massimore of Taneytown; sisters, Nancy Bechtel of Michigan, Phyllis Buckingham of Texas, and Jeannie Barrett of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Alwine Jr.; and a brother, Larry Alwine.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, 136 E. Baltimore St., Taneytown. Deacon Charles E. Barnhart Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Uniontown Church of God Cemetery in Uniontown. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
