Mrs. Dorothy Clara Derrick, 87, of Frederick died peacefully Friday, February 14, 2014 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the loving wife of the late Jeptha Derrick, who predeceased her on October 5, 1986.|
Born March 18, 1926 in West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Ethel Mae Dunn.
In earlier years, Dorothy worked as an electronics assembler. She was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed taking trips to the beach with her family. She loved spending time with her family. Her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the absolute love of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Blevins and husband, Scotty, of Middletown, and their son, Michael Blevins (formerly of Middletown) and his wife, Ashley, and their daughter, Morgan, of Pittsburgh; and Deborah Jacobson and husband, Paul, of Gaithersburg, and their son Jeffrey Jacobson and his wife, Gerette, of Gaithersburg, and their children Lucas, Alexis and Nicolas.
Dorothy was the last of her immediate family. She was predeceased by five siblings.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where services will begin at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Lloyd Fuss.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
