Catherine Mocarsky Obituary
Catherine G.Mocarsky, 85, of Damascus, died peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Catherine Rosalie Gartner on June 5, 1928 daughter of the late William Henry and Lena Helen Walker Gartner. She lived in Rockville, Maryland where she graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in 1946.

Catherine worked at the Court House in Rockville, prior to her first marriage. Subsequently, she spent her life as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She moved to Damascus, in 1963 with her second husband, where she lived until her death.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Clifard Llewellyn Howard, second husband, Anthony Thomas Mocarsky, six siblings and daughter Linda Sue Howard.

Catherine leaves behind her sister Lois Crown; daughters Sharon Stewart & husband Cliff of Emmitsburg, MD, Patricia Lach & husband William of Frederick, MD, Catherine Paris of New Paltz, NY; son Tracy A. Mocarsky & wife Teri of Halifax, VA; step-daughter Pamela Plitt & husband Karl of Spring Hill, TN; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is remembered by her good friend Margaret Huff and family.

Catherine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Gold Star Unit 191, in Mt. Airy. She was an avid home gardener with a "green thumb" and her flowers were a source of great pride. She also enjoyed bird watching, country music, and spending time at the Senior Center in Damascus with her neighbor.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the funeral home. Officiating will be son-in-law, Clifford G. Stewart. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick..
