Thelma Irene (Arvin) Hoover, 87 of York, died at her residence on May 7, 2014. She was the wife of the late Rev. Emmanuel J. Hoover, STD.|
Born March 20, 1927 in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Snyder) Arvin.
Thelma was a member of Advent Lutheran Church. She was an avid gardener and loved cooking.
Thelma is survived by a daughter, Faith Hoover of Middletown, MD, three sons, Jim Hoover and his wife Denise of Middletown, MD, Tim Hoover and his wife Tracy of Hagerstown, MD and Steve Hoover of Libertytown, MD, six grandchildren, Kendra Steele and husband Michael of Pallyup, WA, Jessica Flanagan and husband Scott of Frederick, MD, Courtney Hall and husband Jason of Hagerstown, MD, Jaimie Kiska and husband Trey of Adamstown, MD, Caitlin Hoover and Timothy Hoover, both of Hagerstown, MD, six great grandchildren, Sawyer, Lily, Kirra, Madilyn, Taedyn and Ellie and two brothers, Richard Arvin and wife Eva of York and Lance Arvin of York. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Arvin, Clyde Arvin, James Arvin and Dale Arvin.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 12, 2014 at Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St. York with the Rev. John G. Bernheisel, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10:-11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
