Audrey Bauman Obituary
Mrs. Audrey E. Bauman, 92, of Frederick, died on May 30 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of Stephen Bauman. Born on January 12, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Emory (Bill) Eyler and Agnes Elizabeth McKenzie.



Mrs. Bauman graduated from Frederick High School and received her undergraduate degree from Hood College in 1943. Audrey then received her master's degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. A career educator, she was a biology teacher at Frederick High School, Walkersville High School and at one time was put in Brunswick High School to replace a teacher that had been drafted into the military during World War II. Mrs. Bauman loved to teach and co-authored several books on biology. Upon her retirement in 1973, she became active in the Frederick Community in numerous organizations such as the Retired Teachers Association, The FMH Hospital Auxiliary, The Garden Club, The American Heart Association-Frederick Chapter and the Hood College Alumni Association. She was also a member at Frederick First Baptist Church and led the adult education for many years. Audrey and her husband were married in 1969. Upon her diagnosis with dementia, they were interviewed and featured in the Frederick Magazine in an article investigating Alzheimer's Disease and the impact on families.



In addition to her husband, she is survived by close cousins Sally Rice and her husband Rich of Thurmont, Audrey House, Miriam Selzer, Jeffrey House, Susan Lewis, Francine Hahn and Jennifer McGraw; sister Patricia Staffieri and her husband Raymond and brothers and sisters in law Charles Bauman, William Bauman and wife Kathryn, Michael Bauman and wife Nancy, Rose Gallagher, Carol Madden and Dorothy Missonellie. She was preceded in death by sister in law Theresa Schwartz.
