Katharyn Jenkins, 93, went home to the Lord on June 5, 2014 with her family by her side at the Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, MD.|
Katharyn was born April 5, 1921 in Ohio to Mary and Robert Taylor. She graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1939 and studied music at Coker College in South Carolina. During the war she married her true love,Walt Jenkins, and celebrated 58 years together. She took the role of being a mother, homemaker, and also taught piano for 20 years to a multitude of students young and old.
Her interests included reading, playing cards, and especially playing games with her great grandchildren. She loved music, being a teacher, working with children, and serving as the church organist. She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family. Her charm, smile, and positive attitude would enlighten any given moment.
She is survived by her 2 sons and their spouses Walt and Raydean Jenkins, John and Janice Jenkins; 4 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Katharyn spent her last remaining year enjoying the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Woodstock, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 3PM in the Homewood Chapel at Crumland Farms, 7404 Willow Rd., Frederick, MD 21702.
Interment will be private.
