She was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Woodsboro, where she and her husband were caretakers for 4-5 years and she was a Consistory member for 2 years. She was an avid reader; enjoyed putting together large jigsaw puzzles and watching "Price Is Right" and "Jeopardy"; and had a large collection of owls. She and her husband loved to travel to different restaurants, eating out frequently. She had a very special pet cat "Miss Air Pax".

She was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Edmonia Snoots and husband, Roger; brothers, Sherman Bradley Rippeon, Otis Nelson Rippeon, and Grayson Edward Rippeon and wife, Charlotte; and sister-in-law, Ruby Rippeon.

Joyce's family wishes to thank and acknowledge several very special friends and neighbors who were instrumental in her daily activities: David and Diana Schrodel and sons, Douglas, Dana, and the late Michael Schrodel; Steve and Shirley Blank and family; Patsy Stambaugh and Dawson Miller.
