Alice Brereton Burgoon Obituary
Alice Brereton Burgoon of Frederick, Maryland passed away at Kline Hospice House on Friday, September 14, 2012 at the age of 87. She has gone to be with the Lord.

She was born in Oyster Bay, New York on April 13, 1925. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Hughes and Agnes Sullivan and her sister, Gwendolyn Hills.

Alice is survived by her husband, Jim, of 65 years, her brother and his wife, Robert and Bette Hughes and by her nine children: Jamie Slater, Ellen Anderson, David Burgoon, Emily Campen, Dea O'Hopp, Sarah Saoit, Josh Burgoon, Steve Burgoon and Jon Burgoon. She was the grandmother of 18 and the great grandmother of 6, all living.

Alice taught Sunday School at age 16, raised a big family and then taught at Montrose Christian School in Rockville, Maryland. She lived for 22 years in Ft. Wayne, Indiana where she helped start new churches with her husband. Alice loved to sing in the choirs and to reach out to needy neighbors. For the past 17 years she was an activemember in various activities at First Baptist Church here in Frederick, singing in the choir and teaching the Rebecca class. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and her neighbors in Tasker's Chance where she and Jim have lived since 1991.

Interment will be at Highland Park in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29 at the First Baptist Church located at 1040 Bowers Road in Frederick followed by a covered dish luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church for the Waverly Fund.
