Mrs. Rebekah Jane (Leatherman) McLaren, 89, of Frederick, died Friday, January 4, 2013, at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy.|
Born December 28, 1923 in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Annie Kate (Flook) Leatherman. Her husband, James McLaren, Jr., preceded her in death in Nov. 1990.
Becky was a graduate of Middletown High School and Columbia Business College, Hagerstown. She was employed by Everedy Company and Genstar Stone Products from which she retired in 1986. She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren where she served on various committees and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, she filled all offices at various times and as President of District Six. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, AARP and NARFE.
She is survived by special niece, Dorothy L. Etzler, and nieces Anne Kate Draper, Linda J. Delaughter, Glenna V. Moser and Kathy L.Gaver, nephews, F. Calvin Leatherman and J. Wayne Leatherman.
She was preceded in death by sister, Edna V. Etzler, Mary Catherine Leatherman, and brothers, Albert C., R. Glenn, William M., John W. and Charles Leatherman.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11AM, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick. The memorial service will follow at 11:00AM at the church. Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers will officiate. Interment will be at 1:30PM, on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
