Loretta Jane Kimmel, 71, of Frederick, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at her home with her daughters and friend, Barbara Zimmerman, by her side. Her death followed a courageous 4-year battle with breast cancer.|
Born July 17, 1941 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Murphy and Beatrice Michell Young. She was the wife of William Lee Kimmel, who predeceased her in 1995.
Mrs. Kimmel was a 1959 graduate of Walkersville High School. She was a member of the New Market Fire Company Women's Auxiliary and belonged to the Senior Citizens Group of New Market. She was a loyal member of Central United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, family vacations at the beach and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a friend to everyone she met.
Survivingarethree daughters, Sheryl Spurrier and husband, Stan of New Market, Elizabeth Cucchi of Frederick, Kristi Kimmel of Smithsburg; seven grandchildren, Stephen Spurrier, Jesse Spurrier and wife Carlie, Sara Cucchi, Emily Cucchi, Amanda Cucchi, Ian Mullen, Zeke Boddicker; sister, Ida Mae Morris of Fairlawn, VA; brother, Avis Young and wife, Dot of Walkersville; special cousin,Linda Warnock of Pennsylvania; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Cara Young; and brothers, Rawley and John Young.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9 at 12:00 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown. Rev. Jerry Cline, her pastor, will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
