Roy Filmore Dorsey, age 79, of Mt. Airy, MD died Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at Fairhaven Health Care Center, Sykesville.|
Born February 20, 1933, in Carroll County, MD, he was the son of the late Carlton Louis and Dorothy Jeanette Parker Dorsey. He was the husband of Edith Ann Fossett Dorsey.
Roy had retired from the Montgomery County Public School System as a Building Services Manager. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1953 to 1961.
Roy enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening, hunting, fishing, antique cars and especially spending time with his family. Roy was a member of Mt. Gregory United Methodist Church, Cooksville and a member of Earth, Wheels and Fire motorcycle club.
Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Filmore Dwayne Dorsey and Carrie Schonwald of Brooklyn, NY, daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and George Anderson of Hagerstown, stepchildren David Fossett and his wife Angela, of Point of Rocks, and Jacqueline Fossett of Catonsville, brothers and sisters-in-law Vernon Dorsey of Westminster, and Charles and Sara Dorsey, and Frank and Katherine Dorsey, both of Cooksville, sisters Elizabeth Costley and her husband Rev. John Costley of Bowie, and Mary Graham of Cooksville, nine grandchildren and one great- granddaughter.
He was predeceased by his daughter Theresa Dorsey, his stepchildren Craig and Irvin Fossett, his brother Leon Dorsey and by his sister Alice Thomas.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gregory United Methodist Church, 2325 Route 97, Cooksville. Interment in Bushy Park Cemetery, Cooksville.
