Emory Francis Cameron, 8/9/32

On Friday the 13th, 2013, in Room 3413 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, Emory Francis Cameron, 81, went to his Heavenly Home after a long illness. Emory was born on August 9, 1932 in Rileyville, Virginia. He was the son of Solon B. and Anna Riley Cameron. On June 11, 1955 he married Norma Jean Bumgardner, Rileyville, VA. They were married for 58 years and he remains the love of her life. Emory would have graduated with the class of 1952 from Luray High School, Luray, VA, but chose to join the US Navy and finish his education there. He served four years of active duty and four years of inactive duty, receiving an honorable discharge in 1960. At the end of his military service, he worked for a year with Peoples Life Insurance Company in Washington, DC. He then went to work for W. S. Pratt, Inc an automotive business. In 1959 he went to work for James Bell at Washington Spring Works, eventually becoming sole owner. He sold Washington Spring Works in 1982 and bought Cameron Liquors (t/a D&S Liquors) on Rt 26 in Frederick, MD. He sold that and semi-retired due to his health failing worked various odd jobs with friends. He was an avid Redskins fan, no matter whether they were up or down as well as NASCAR. He enjoyed teaching his kids to water ski, even though he could not, loved hunting and tractor pulling with his buddies, the late Charlie Hawkins and Eddy Dorsey. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Luwana Cameron, Laytonsville; Jeffrey Cameron and wife Jeannie, Frederick, and Lorelei Irons and husband Eddie, Jr of Laytonsville. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Candice and Joseph Cameron of Gaithersburg and Cameron and Kathryn Irons of Laytonsville,. He is also survived by one "adopted" daughter, Karin Bacchus and two "adopted" grandchildren, Erich and Sean of Germantown and one step-grandson, Ryan Davis. Also, surviving is one sister, Louise Turner, and husband Page of Stanley, VA. Besides his parents and in-laws (Ray L and Kathryn Bumgardner) he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Mayes and Mildred Bailey. He leaves behind his best friends Ralph and Bettie Holford and Paul and Darlene Smith. Memorial services will be held at Gaithersburg Church of the Nazarene, 8921 Warfield Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20882 on Tuesday December 17, 2013 at 11 A.M. A luncheon will follow at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray, VA. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the following: The , P.O.
