Susan Jean Darby, 60, of Middletown, died peacefully with her family at her side on June 2, 2014, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.|
Born in Spangler, PA on January 21, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Charles Robert Kutruff and Martha Clara (Rudnick) Kutruff. She graduated from Glendale High School and Lock Haven State College with a degree in education. After college, Sue moved to Virginia and Maryland, and on March 12, 1983, she married James "Jim" Darby. Sue and Jim moved to Middletown in 1989, where they raised their three children.
Sue was a diehard Steelers fan and loved working on craft projects or reading a good book in her free time. She was known for her generous heart, and her happiest moments were the times spent with her husband, children, and granddaughter.
She is survived by her husband, James Joseph Darby, Jr. of Middletown; her children, Sara Louise (Darby) Wagner and husband Brian of Taneytown, James Joseph Darby III of Middletown, and Kathleen Martha Darby of Frederick; her granddaughter, Amy Noelle Wagner; and two sisters, Sandra Kay Costo and Donna Ann Phipps.
All friends are welcome to join the family to celebrate Sue's life on Friday, June 6th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 PM at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon on Saturday, June 7th.
