Wilfred L. Koontz Obituary
Mr. Wilfred Lee Koontz, 95, of Worman's Mill, Frederick, Maryland, formerly of Damascus, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, in the hospice unit at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret J. Brown Koontz his wife of 68 years.

Born March 10, 1919 in Unionville, Md., he was a son of the late Reuben Hollis and Mary Buckman Koontz.

Mr. Koontz was a member of the Damascus United Methodist Church, since moving to Damascus following WWII. He served in the U.S. Army, both in the Asiatic Pacific and European Theater of operations, and he received a battle star for each tour of duty.

He worked for Casey Engineering Company, and as a firefighter-inspector for Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He retired as owner of K&K Appliances, and Mt. Airy Trailer Sales in 1976. He was a member of American Legion Post 171 of Damascus, a Charter Member of VFW 10076 of Mount Airy, and a past member of Damascus Rotary Club.

Surviving besides his wife Margaret are sons: Wayne Koontz of Bethesda; and Randall Koontz of Germantown; daughter Marianne Koontz Rhoda of Chevy Chase; Grandsons: Geoffrey Koontz of Knoxville, Tennessee and Spencer Rhoda of New York City; a granddaughter Hilary H. Rhoda of New York City; and brother Norman Koontz of Moneta, Virginia.

He is preceded in death by two brothers Herman and Elbert Koontz and his sister Hallie Baltzell McLarren.

Friends may call 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at Damascus United Methodist Church, 9700 New Church Street, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Interment will follow in Damascus Cemetery.
