Jennie was the quintessential professional with unique combinations of creativity, honesty, kindness and grit. Although I am old enough to have been her mother, or even grandmother, I learned so much from her by her beautiful example. Jennie left a hole in the Special Education Department that can never be filled. Peace to all who knew her.

I worked with Jenny in a peripheral capacity---she was at many meetings that I had to attend. But I was always impressed by her caring, friendly manner and how she was always kind to those that she interacted with...I know that she impacted many children in her years of service within the school system and helped many grow and flourish.
I cannot imagine your pain but please try to remember all of the good that she imparted to the world and hold that close to heart in your time of grief.
My deepest condolences to you all.

I will never forget Jennie's smile, the way she lit up a room, the love for her husband and kids, dedication to friends, work, and all other aspects of her life. I will never forget the time she came to her house and showed us her Zumba dance moves, we were hysterical... great sense of humor with a positive outlook on life! Jennie will be missed dearly by all and my heart goes out to her family and friends. Rest in Peace Jennie, I will miss you.

I was fortunate to be on the team that hired Jennie for Challenges. She came to the interview with a quiet confidence and warmth and when she opened a portfolio of visual supports she had created for her students, none of us could contain ourselves. "You're hired!" Those wonderful qualities were only a shadow of the Jennie we came to know and love. She was totally without pretense, a compassionate, gentle, truth-telling woman who was always willing to teach and learn.
Although Jennie gave so much to her work with children, it was always clear that her heart was with her family: Izzy, Finn and Bryan. My prayer for all of you is that the light of her memory will guide and heal you.

Words simply cannot express how truly sorry I am for your loss. When I heard the news, my heart sank. Jennie had a remarkable way of bringing people together. She always saw the best in everyone and put others before herself. Her giving and selfless nature was deeply rooted and is evidenced by the countless lives she touched. It's a gift to have shared a friendship with her and I cherish the memories of many good times at Hood. Neither time nor distance can ever diminish the beauty she brought to the world. May the love of caring friends soften your sadness and surround your grieving hearts. My deepest sympathy to her family and to all those who hold her dear. I'm so very sorry.

Dear Bryan, Izzy, and Finn,
I only met you briefly in the past, but I was so happy for Jennie to have the family that she wanted so much. She was such a gracious, caring person and I never knew her to give up or to despair about life. She had a calming presence about her and as her principal at CMES, I knew that I was blessed to have her on my staff.
Please accept my deep sorrow at the loss you must learn to carry. I hope that all the joy that Jennie gave you will see you through and that each new day will bring greater strength and resolve.
God Bless You,
Pam Pencola

Dear Valerie, Jay and Family,
We are currently in Naples, Fl now when we were shocked and saddened to receive a call letting us know about Jennifer. This is the worst news that any parent can receive. Please know that we are thinking about you and your entire family. As Jennifer's pre-first grade teacher, I still have wonderful memories of her as a beautiful, vibrant young girl who loved to learn and enjoy her classmates. I was so proud of her accomplishments especially her decision to become a teacher and a mother. May the many splendid contributions she made to your life in past days, make the days on the future come easier for all of you. Cherish all of the good memories!
With love and sympathy,
Barbara Shuba (and Ernie Shuba)

When Jennie began teaching in Frederick County's Challenges program, she was my son's teacher for two years. She had a remarkable way of building relationships with students and parents. She also worked with my family through the Autism Waiver, and as a teacher, we frequently connected professionally across the years. She was a gifted special education teacher specialist. She always presented a hug, a smile, and time for a genuine and heartfelt connection. There is a hole in the world without her. I send my deepest condolences to Jennies family, along with thoughts and prayers for comfort at this time.

Jennie was one of the first people I met when I came to Hood College 25 years ago. Her best friend, Melinda introduced us. Jennie was always kind, patient, and honest. She was a loyal friend and a dedicated student. Looking back, she kept a balance in her social and academic life that was impressive. We later commuted together to The Ivymount School, where we both began our careers in Special Education. For 5 years, we began each morning stopping at 7-11 and get vanilla cappuccinos. It brings me back to those days each time I get a whiff off those drinks. We always had a stash of peppermint lifesavers as well, (Those were to ensure we didn't blow the kids back with our coffee breath!) When Jennie left to pursue her passions at FCPS, I missed her daily company, but loved hearing about all of the amazing strides she was making with her students and the program. That balance I spoke of earlier continued throughout Jennie's life. Her professional success was not the only area where Jennie excelled. She was a wonderful friend, caring daughter, loving wife and most of all, a devoted Mom. Jennie was a remarkable human being. She so gracefully navigated the greatest losses and celebrations that life could hold with a dignity and honor that commanded respect in the most modest way. She was beautiful in the way she carried herself as a wife, mother, educator and friend. I will miss her very much.

Our hearts are breaking right now. Jennie was instrumental in our lives and all she did to support and advocate for Ava. Truly one of the best people I have ever met on this journey called Autism. Full of so much compassion, always helping in times of crisis and able to make any situation better. I credit so many of Ava's successes to her. My heart goes out to all the lives she touched and especially to her beautiful family. We are all just crushed we will always hold her in our memories and think the world of her❤

I cannot tell you how much I appreciated and respected Jennie. She always was thoughtful, kind, and caring. She gave me wonderful advise on how to work with some of our most challenging students. All I needed to do was e-mail or call and she was there. Jennie radiated joy each time I saw her. My heart breaks for your family. I still haven't processed this sudden and shocking loss so I know how hard this must be for her close friends and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all...
