Helen Wheat

1902 - 2016

Helen Ida Wheat (Boose) of Frederick, MD passed into eternal life on February 17, 2016 after spending 113 years on this earth. She was a resident of Homewood of Crumland Farms.

Helen was born on September 16, 1902 in York, PA to Allen & Emma Helman Boose. A faithful member of Aldersgate U.M. Church & the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary in York, PA, she also loved music, crossword puzzles, reading, crocheting and board games. Helen enjoyed working at her son, Richard Naylor's Wine Cellars labeling bottles and picking grapes.

While a resident of Homewood she was a friend to many and was often found holding the hand of and praying for a sick resident. Helen, was steadfast in her faith and had a servant's heart.

Helen, is survived by her children, Richard Naylor of York; Janey Andrews (Clyde) of Frederick; Frank Wheat (Arlene) of Boynton Beach, FL; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and niece Dorothy Boose. She was pre-deceased by her husband William E. Wheat, daughter-in-law Audrey M. Naylor and siblings, Clara V. Boose, Jerre D. Boose and Harry A. Boose.

She is fondly remembered by her good friend Annabelle DeHoff of York.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 12:00-1:00 PM. Saturday, February 27 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. A celebration of life service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Greg Myers, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmount Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Homewood for the kindness and loving care given to our mother.
